Purchasing an x0xb0x is not like going down to your local Music Shop and buying a keyboard. First, you have to get on the waiting list, as there were only plans to do a run of 500. To get on the waiting list, send a message to x0xb0x@gmail.com and ask to be put on the waiting list. You should recieve a confirmation email at some point (give it at least a week or so). The time between being on the waiting list and having a kit in your hot little hands is roughly 3 months.
Second, once you have x0xb0x, you will have to build it. See the Fabrication page for more details. The skill required to solder this kit is about intermediate level. Don't try and learn how to solder with this kit! There are some rare transistors and IC's. If you fry them, you're out of luck, and you'll have to try and find a replacement on your own. It also has one surface mount IC, but you can get that presoldered if you like.
I've compiled an easy 'Bill Of Materials' from as few suppliers as possible for everyone who wants to source individual parts and construct the project, the suppliers used were Adafruit, Mouser, Farnell and Gaetano on the Adafruit forum, this order list includes some generic substitutes to the original bill without change to the construction of the x0xb0x and helps cut down the cost of using multiple distributors, the list is ordered as the original BOM (remember hotlinks suffer from link rot so if anything needs updating let me know–sm4sh):
There are ICs in this project, some are rare and we don't want to fry any of the little critters with overactive soldering, as a safe bet use some DIL Sockets.
